Part Time School Janitor
JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:Â Perform a variety of housekeeping and janitorial duties, as well as cleaning up different types of emergencies such as spills, accidental situations.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform cleaning duties such as cleaning classrooms, floors, restrooms and hallways
- Operate cleaning equipment and use designated chemicals and other cleaning products safely and in accordance with instructions
- Collect and dispose of garbage and waste according to instructions
- Lock Corpus Christi church doors daily at 5pm
MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Buff or polish floors
- Wash windows
- Change burned out light bulbs
- Dust and remove cob webs
- During winter months make sure walkways are clear and safe
- Clean up unexpected spills & accidental situations
- Additional job-related duties as requested by supervisor
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Perform physical activities such as, but not limited to:
– lifting heavy items up to 50 lbs. without assistance
– A combination of bending, standing, kneeling, climbing, twisting and walking for long periods of time, up to 4 hrs/day
– climbing up and down a ladder with good balance - Work safely in an environment containing chemicals, cleaning materials, dust and noise
- Good coordination of arms and legs
- Ability to transport products and equipment from room to room
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Â Education:Â High school diploma or GED preferred;Â Experience: Prior janitorial/custodial experience a plus
